It’s September already! Hope the summer has allowed for some degree of play and rest.
A couple of dates to share this month:
Co-working at Amber Mill - Wednesday September 9th 10am-5pm
“Mill Days” - Co-Working at Amber MillNext week we have our shared working day at The Mill in Oakerthorpe 10am-5pm. We don’t have any group conversations or themes planned for this month, just a chance to touch base, check-in, and work independently or collectively on any current projects. Light refreshments provided, space to prepare your own lunch, local walking/strolling possible. We have recently had the opportunity to use the newly converted studio space at The Mill, and are happy to arrange booking this as part of the shared working environment if there is appetite for a creative/messy space to work in.
Monthly meet-up at Shipley Community Garden - September 23rd 5pm-8pm
On Wednesday 23rd we have our evening meet-up at Shipley Community Garden. This will be the last of our outdoor meetups for the year, and the space will be hosted by Susan Smith of Shipley Eco Action Group. Susan is keen to convene around the powerful links between nature, art, and wellbeing, so if this interests you too, do come by and join in the conversations. Lots of the work happening among the Make/Shift community seems to touch on these elements, and it could be interesting to collectively combine our enthusiasm. Once again, if you need help with transport to the venue please do let us know.
More generally for Make/Shift September is shaping up to be a time of emergence. After a summer of mulling, chatting, and story gathering there are some opportunities for experiences and ideas to be shared. With the second cohort of Neighbourhood Creative Agents sharing back some of their learning with peers and collaborators. The Story Telling for Evaluation group taking time to explore ‘significant change’ emerging through the ten stories that were collected in August. People involved in the Movers and Shakers Community Panel and Wayfinding group exploring what possible next steps could look like for the work. We look forward to sharing more widely about all of these strands throughout the autumn. If you want to know more about anything specific or have your own ideas/feedback that you feel hasn’t yet been woven in to our ‘mulling’ please do get in touch with us directly.
For October, I want to flag up that the Shared working day will be on the first Wednesday of the month
